Its a matter of simple irony -- and funny too, how we actually call Iraq 'middle-east' and Malaysia sidewards, East Asia.

iraq is in the "middle" when the "west" is going to the eastern part of the world hence middle east.
malaysia-is "east" since it is towards the end of asia,therefore east asia
look at a globe and not a flat world map

I actually had a really hard time accepting that west asia and the middle east were the same place!

assuming japan to be the east
all other countries in asia are marked keeping japan as the focal point
ref, my earlier comment, malaysia is actually south east asia (again marked in relation with japan)
while india is south asia(as you would see in a map,in relation to japan,we are south)
middle east is also called west asia, that is in relation to east(japan).

IR: dude, youre perfectly right, so long as you dont call it "middle east" because though jerry gave up on this, the whole point is that let the west call it what they will, but logically and from our point of view - that is WEST ASIA and the concept of saying middle east makes no logical sense.
I mean for gods sakes, are you telling me that its right in the middle of the continent? not even bloody close man!

for reasons like this only express has policy (and yell at hapless young trainees i'll hv you know) to call middle-east "west asia". through our own looking glass
